Cliff

Cliff Definition

What is a cliff?

A predetermined period of time when stocks gradually vest, such as a 1 year cliff which means if you leave within a year, you do not get any stocks.

Startups like Monzo, usually have a four-year vesting schedule plan with a one-year cliff. Upon completing the cliff period, the employee receives full benefits of their stock options.
